Title: Subspace Methods in Detection and Imaging
Abstract: Subspace signal modeling provides a powerful tool in signal processing as it provides separated spaces in which to operate on either a measured signal or corrupting noise. We present results applying a subspace model to the problem of detecting a signal source from measurements at different receivers. We then outline two related techniques, the Linear Sampling Method (LSM) and Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) which use these ideas for imaging. We are interested in analyzing the effects of data down sampling and filtering on the performance of these methods. We finally describe a newer formulation of a MUSIC type method, identify some of its shortcomings, and propose ideas to improve its performance.
