Math Day 2026 is Thursday, November 5th, at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado.
Doors open for registration check-in and the Math Fair at 7:30, and main events run from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Guest lecture is at 9 am, Trevor Hyde, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Vassar College.
About Math Day
Since 1977, the Department of Mathematics has hosted Math Day, which is a full day of exploration in Mathematics for High School students. This event brings in around 500 High school mathematics students in Colorado and the surrounding states every year.
Purpose of Math Day
- Broaden students’ interest, excitement and opportunities within mathematics
- Extend our resources as the Mathematics Department at CSU
- Build connections and community among educators and students
Main Events
Math Day offers something to connect every student with mathematics:
- Open house for mathematical-themed activities: 7:30 am – 2 pm
- Guest Lecture: 9 am, Trevor Hyde, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Vassar College
- Team Competition: A quiz-bowl style tournament for both small and large schools: All day/times vary
- Student Project Math Fair: 9 am – 1 pm.
Students can submit projects for awards within these five categories:

- Expository: History, Biography & Theory of Mathematics
- Artistic and Recreational Mathematics
- Data Visualization or Mathematics
- Original Mathematical Research
- Mathematics in Education/Teaching

Elective workshops hosted by faculty and grad students: 1 pm – 2:30 pm
Registration
Web registration will open September 1st, 2026. We ask that you register once per school and appoint one sponsor as a point of contact. This who will accompany students at the Math Day Event.
Cost
Registration costs are $25.00 per student (no cost for teachers/sponsors).
