For KR PD Compliance, Questionnaire, & Supplemental Information

Animal, Human, and Biosafety Compliance: Will any of the following approvals be needed?*
Will additional space or facilities, or significant investment in existing space, be required as a result of an award?*
Note: If the project will require space and/or facilities not currently available or significant investment in existing space, additional information should be provided to the department chair and college RAD prior to proposal submission. Acceptance of funding may be contingent on CSU Facilities approval for the additional space request.
Is Fabrication of Equipment involved?*
Note: Fabrication expenses must be specifically identified in the budget for this proposal, in accordance with University and sponsor guidance. A separate account is set up at the time of award for fabrication expenses.
Will you be using one or more of the listed CSU Core Facilities in the proposed work?*
Note: More information about Core Facilities is available at https://www.research.colostate.edu/cores/
Will this project be related to either clinical or pre-clinical work that is or will be governed by quality assurance requirements?*
Note: If the RFP or other sponsor instructions include any reference to GxP or any of the specifically listed ‘good practices’, additional review is required by CSU’s Regulatory Compliance Office, and CSU may need to request adjustments in order to accept funding. Licensing, device, and drug applications also require additional review.
Will this proposal most likely lead to International Research?*
Note: International collaborations are subject to sponsor and University guidance and policies. When this question is answered Yes, the Secure + Global Research office will be added to the route as an FYI, so that they are aware of the proposal and available to aid and guidance as needed. If you have any questions about your project’s international component(s), contact vpr_export_control@colostate.edu.
Do you anticipate that this project will involve restrictions such as export controls, controlled unclassified information (CUI), or classified information and/or work?*
Note: Choose ‘yes’ if the research may include any of the following: export-controlled items, software, or equipment; controlled unclassified information; materials, equipment, or information that are classified for national security reasons. If you aren’t sure if/how these restrictions might apply to your proposed project, contact the Secure and Global Research team by email: vpr_export_control@colostate.edu.

Research Type:*
DEFINITIONS – Applied Research: designed to solve practical problems of the modern world, rather than to acquire knowledge for knowledge’s sake. One might say that the goal of the applied scientist is to improve the human condition. Basic Research: (aka fundamental or pure) is driven by a scientist’s curiosity or interest in a scientific question. The main motivation is to expand human knowledge, not to create or invent something. There is no obvious commercial value to the discoveries that result from basic research. Developmental Research: (aka experimental development) is creative and systematic work, drawing on knowledge gained from research and practical experience, which is directed at producing new products or processes or improving existing products or processes. Like research, experimental development will result in gaining additional knowledge.
